Bardie is a personal assistant you text over iMessage. This page explains what Bardie collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: support@textbardie.com.

What we collect

  • Your phone number and timezone, so Bardie can text you and get times right.
  • Your messages with Bardie, including photos, PDFs, and voice memos you send, so it can answer and remember the conversation. Photos and files aren't stored after they're read; the conversation keeps a short note like "sent a photo".
  • Things Bardie remembers about you, like people in your life or preferences, when they come up in conversation.
  • Reminders you set.

Your Google account (optional)

If you connect Google, Bardie asks only for what it needs, and you can see the exact permissions on Google's consent screen:

  • Gmail: to send emails you've approved, and, where available, to read your inbox so it can tell you about important emails, find things for you, and archive or label emails when you ask.
  • Google Calendar: to tell you what's coming up and to add, move, or remove events when you ask.
  • Google Contacts (read only): to look up someone's email address when you ask Bardie to email them.

Bardie never sends an email without your explicit go-ahead in the conversation. Your Google sign-in token is stored encrypted. Email and calendar contents are read when needed to answer you and are not kept, except for what ends up in your conversation with Bardie (for example, a summary it texted you).

Google API Services User Data Policy. Bardie's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data to serve ads, we do not sell it, we do not use it to train or improve AI models, and no person at Bardie reads it unless you ask us to for support, it's needed for security, or the law requires it.

Who processes your data

We share data only with the services that make Bardie work, and only for that purpose:

  • Anthropic (Claude), the AI that reads your messages and writes Bardie's replies. Anthropic does not train its models on this data.
  • Photon, which delivers iMessages to and from Bardie.
  • Deepgram, which turns voice memos into text.
  • Google, if you connect your account.
  • Railway, where Bardie's servers and database run.

We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data is kept while you use Bardie. To delete everything (conversation history, memories, reminders, and your Google connection), text Bardie "delete my account" and confirm. It's removed right away and Bardie revokes its Google access. You can also remove Bardie's access any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or email us and we'll delete your account.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections, Google tokens are encrypted at rest, and access to our systems is limited to what's needed to run Bardie.

Children

Bardie is not meant for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and let you know by text.
